Mitch Messmore serves as the Director of CRISTA (www.cristany.org) and is the coordinator of Art Night Schenectady (www.artnightschenectady.com).

The City of Schenectady officially recognizes the third Friday of every month as Art Night Schenectady. (September 2007)

Messmore has been chosen to be the Artist-In-Residence at A Taste of Greece in Albany, NY (October 2007).

Mitch Messmore received the Chamber of Schenectady County’s “Good News Award” for his efforts in co-creating and organizing Art Night Schenectady. (April 2008)

My photographs are mainly based on my dreams. The vocabulary in my work references different cultures, history, nature, religion, architecture, and landscapes. My photographic process consists of layering multiple images, and manipulating the negative itself by drawing on or scratching into it, to achieve the desired effect in the darkroom.

I always know what I want to achieve, but the finished work always takes a life of its own and goes far beyond my greatest expectations.
